Finally all my paintings are finished - all framed and ready for tomorrows exhibition. I am still rather new at doing this, I always feel nervous when I hand my work in. I want to personally hang my own, but you can only hand over and fingers crossed - they are my babies after all..... I have painted six children's illustrations which I will post photos soon. At the moment I am enjoying watercolours and sometimes adding collage to pieces. I am also looking forward to getting back to my Tuesday class of book binding as there are so many things to learn from my brilliant teacher Gill. I want to sign up for the next workshop in February about Coptic stitch. There are so many things that I want to do this year I started making a list.... Yes I must confess I am a list girl I can even make a list of household chores because it gives me great pleasure to cross something off.
So I should tell you a little about my self.....
I live in Warkworth, New Zealand with my husband and four year old son. Just over a year ago we moved here from the big smoke of Auckland. We decided to change our lifestyle and live in the 'country'. We love being here, we enjoy growing our vegetables, (which I turn into preserves/jams/chutneys) making bread, my husband makes his own beer and cider. We are also trying to make cheese. Our son has a big back yard to run around and our next project is to keep some chickens. We love going for walks and picnics along the river or spending the day at one of our many beaches. We are on the committee at our sons kindy and have met some wonderful locals, which we now call friends. Upon living here I decided to open up my old art suitcase and joined the local Arts group. This has opened up many doors and I feel as if I have finally 'woken'up. I spend Mondays painting at the studio and Tuesday afternoons trying my hand at making books. At my last exhibition I won a merit for a painting and sold all four - to which I was so excited. After following other peoples blogs - who have been so interesting and inspiring, I thought - I am going to do that....... so here I am my second post and this has been one BIG post - sorry. Now its time to breathe. I just had a little bit to say. Must go - Sweet dreams everyone.
